Butler / House Person Job Cheshire

(48048) Our client is looking for an experienced Butler / House Person to take on a role in a large family home in Cheshire. This is a newly renovated property and the family employ other staff including Housekeepers, Nannies and Gardening / Maintenance staff. The right candidate needs to be hands on, flexible, be happy to work in a semi-formal family home being discreet and professional at all times.


Key responsibilities


  • To ensure that the house is suitably prepared for occupancy by the family


  • To undertake a wide range of general household duties including dining room service, meeting and greeting guests


  • To manage the low-level household maintenance programme, by undertaking general handyperson duties such as changing lightbulbs/preparing fires/IT support, or by sourcing appropriate contractors and overseeing necessary works; where specific project work is needed, to take guidance/direction from the family


  • To oversee the housekeepers to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the house, occasionally covering in case of staff absence or holidays


  • To provide catering and food provision adequate for the family’s everyday needs working with the Housekeeping staff to share this part of the role


  • To liaise with external suppliers in order to deliver formal, social occasions


  • To appoint and manage occasional staff


  • To provide response cover in case of emergencies, out-of-hours if necessary


  • To be prepared to undertake occasional driving tasks


This role will be to start asap and will offer live in accommodation (rent free candidate to pay own council tax and utilities)


The family are also looking for a Part-time PA so if you came with a partner who might be able to fulfil this role also a Couples role will also be considered (see job 48049).


Full-time 40 hours per week normally Monday to Friday with some weekends


£ competitive / negotiable for the right candidate
