Butler Job in Essex
We are seeking an experienced and highly professional Traditional Butler to join a distinguished private household set within a large country estate. The residence contains an exceptional collection of antiques, fine art, and oil paintings, requiring a butler with a deep appreciation for traditional service, discretion, and the highest standards of household management.
The successful candidate will be polished, organised, and committed to delivering impeccable service while upholding the household's heritage and traditions.
Key Responsibilities
Provide formal butler service to the principals and their guests.
Oversee the presentation and smooth operation of the main residence.
Care for and safeguard antiques, fine furniture, silver, china, crystal, and decorative objects.
Ensure the appropriate handling and preservation of valuable oil paintings and artwork in accordance with household procedures.
Prepare and serve formal meals, afternoon tea, drinks, and special occasions with traditional etiquette.
Manage the wine cellar and assist with wine service where required.
Welcome guests and coordinate arrivals, departures, and hospitality.
Liaise with the housekeeping staff chefs, gardeners, and other estate staff to ensure seamless household operations.
Maintain household inventories, including silver, linens, tableware, and hospitality supplies.
Make reservations and other calls required. Keep up to date with medication, rehab and physical therapy sessions, through a diary planner.
Pack and unpack luggage and put clothes away. Arrange personal items in wardrobe and bathroom.
Prepare (with or without chef) and serve afternoon tea.
Live in or out - Cottage provided on estate
Hours - 10 hours a day including 2 hour break in middle of day
