Caretaker job Live In North Yorkshire
(45798) Our client is looking for an experienced Caretaker to join the team looking after a large historic property used both as a private residence (3 children and 2 dogs), and occasionally as a venue for events and functions. The property is 25 mins from Thirsk and is on the end of a small town so it not a very rural and remote location.
The position is live-in – a 3 bed flat will be provided – and would include responsibility for the following duties across the site.
Duties will include:
Plant & Machinery - checking and maintaining boilers, gas pump switching (and checking), pressure checks, checking / filling water softeners for salt, cold weather checks for prevention of frost damage, checking lift, turning heating on and off, record keeping
Drains & Roof - checking all rainwater drainage across the site, periodically emptying debris from gutters/hoppers/drains/valleys, wet weather checks for ingress of water, snow clearance, periodic checking for soundness
Service Contracts & Contractors - organise service visits (alarms / gas / electrical / pumps / lift / water softeners / window cleaning etc), supervise contractors on site, review contracts, maintain records, manage small scale one-off projects where contractors required
Event Set-up - set-up and take down for events and functions in the house, move tables and chairs, signing out and back in all house equipment / catering supplies, provide pre- and post-event access for contractors/suppliers (caterers/florists/brides’ deliveries etc.)
Event Supervision - car-parking duties, assist with supervision of events and functions if required
Security - maintain general on-site presence, operate intruder alarm, open up and close down the house, maintain/service system of locks, respond to alarm at any time of day, or at weekends, maintain presence on site when family are away
Fire Safety - test and operate alarms, visual check on fire extinguishers, respond to alarm at any time of day, or at weekends, keeping fire exits unblocked, act as fire officer (not compulsory)
General Household and Property Maintenance
Experience of a trade will be an advantage
Basic cross the board DIY skills will be essential
Clean driving licence essential (car provided for work purposes)
Careful and methodical approach (in view of interiors and contents, especially those with historic/financial value)
This is a live in role with a clean and spacious 3 bed flat provided within the house set in parkland and about one mile from a popular market town.
Full-time inc some evenings and weekends
