Live-in Domestic Couple Job near Cirencester, Cotswolds

A warm and welcoming family are seeking an experienced, capable and proactive live-in domestic couple to support the smooth day-to-day running, care and maintenance of their beautiful rural estate near Cirencester, in the heart of the Cotswolds. This is a hands-on, long-term position, well-suited to a practical, flexible couple who take pride in keeping a home and estate beautifully presented and running smoothly.

The estate comprises a six-bedroom family home, ancillary buildings, parkland and woodland, with no agriculture. The household includes four children who are away at school during the week and many weekends. The successful couple will work alongside an established team of six additional household and grounds staff, and will become trusted members of the household.

This varied role includes housekeeping, laundry, grounds and property maintenance, pet care, driving and family support. Discretion, flexibility and a positive, can-do attitude are essential, as is the ability to work well both independently and as part of a wider team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Household and Family Support

  • Maintain the home to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness and presentation

  • Daily and deep cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas as required

  • Laundry, ironing, wardrobe management and linen care

  • Household organisation, including cupboards, stock control and seasonal changeovers

  • Managing household supplies and occasional errands, including shopping and dry cleaning

  • Occasional school runs and assistance during occasional parental absence

  • Infrequent cooking assistance when required

  • Welcoming and supporting guests and visiting family

Gardens, Grounds and Property

  • Day-to-day estate, grounds and property maintenance

  • General handyman duties and minor DIY repairs

  • Lawn care, hedge trimming, woodland and field maintenance

  • Chainsaw work, log splitting, machinery operation and upkeep

  • Gutter clearing, recycling and waste management

  • Swimming pool and tennis court maintenance

  • Liaising with contractors and service providers

  • Basic vehicle care, including refuelling and valeting

Pets

  • Care of household pets, including two dogs, a rabbit and chickens

  • Shared responsibility for animal-related routines and general pet care

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a live-in domestic couple or within similar private households

  • Exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, organisation and attention to detail

  • Strong housekeeping, laundry and wardrobe management skills

  • Strong DIY, general maintenance and practical estate skills

  • Comfortable operating small machinery and carrying out physically demanding outdoor work

  • Confident driver with a clean UK driving licence

  • Fluent English and the right to work in the UK

  • Discreet, trustworthy, reliable and professional

  • Flexible, hands-on and adaptable approach

Working Days and Hours

40 hours per week across 5 days, including weekends, with days off in lieu during the week. Flexibility is required, plus 5 additional on-demand hours per week.

Start: ASAP/September 2026 but flexible for the right candidates

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Accommodation: Private three-bedroom Cotswold cottage, recently renovated and located at the main gate, separate from the main residence. No dependants permitted. All household bills except heating are included.
