Live-in Domestic Couple Job Hampshire
A warm and welcoming family are seeking an experienced, capable and proactive live-in domestic couple to support the smooth day-to-day running, care and maintenance of their pretty coastal home in Hampshire. Situated in a very special location by the sea, this is a hands-on position well-suited to a practical, flexible couple who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle and would be happy running a smaller private household rather than seeking a large formal estate with a big team.
The household includes four children between the ages of 9 and 16, two of whom attend boarding school, and one small dog. The property includes guest accommodation, gardens, lawn, swimming pool, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, sauna, outdoor bath and vehicles, all of which will require practical support and regular management.
This varied role focuses on high-quality housekeeping, laundry management, family cooking, driving, childcare support and general household and outdoor upkeep. Flexibility is essential, as the family have a full schedule and plans can change quickly. The successful couple will be proactive, gentle natured, can-do and confident communicators who are happy to adapt their priorities to whatever is most needed at the time.
Duties and Responsibilities
Household and Family Support
Full housekeeping across the family home and guest accommodation, maintaining all areas to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation
Hands-on daily cleaning, deep cleaning and ensuring the house is always guest-ready
Laundry management, including washing, ironing, linen care, wardrobe organisation and keeping laundry systems running smoothly
Family cooking, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, with plenty of outdoor eating and picnics during the warmer months
Dinner party preparation, cooking, serving and clearing, including occasional hosted dinners during the shooting season when required
Driving to and from the train station or airport, school runs, clubs, parties and Friday to Monday boarding school journeys, shared with the couple
Babysitting once a week
Overnight stays in the house with B12, B9 and the dog when the principals are away
Supporting the family with a full and changeable schedule, reallocating time and priorities as needed
Outdoor, Estate and Practical Support
Practical support with the garden, lawn and outdoor areas
Management and upkeep of the swimming pool, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, sauna and outdoor bath
Vehicle cleaning, day-to-day care and general management
Keeping outdoor spaces ready for regular family use, including outdoor eating and entertaining
General household and practical support to ensure the property runs smoothly
Pets
Providing care and attention for one small dog on-site
Shared responsibility for daily pet routines, feeding and general well-being
Being comfortable staying overnight in the house with the dog and children when the principals are away
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience working as a live-in domestic couple within private households
A proactive, can-do and gentle natured couple with excellent communication skills
Above all, a flexible and adaptable attitude, with the ability to change priorities quickly and support a busy family schedule
Happy being by the sea and enjoying an outdoor lifestyle
Well-suited to running a smaller private household rather than working in a large formal house with a big team
Exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, organisation and attention to detail
Strong housekeeping, laundry management and confident family cooking skills
Comfortable with family cooking, dinner party preparation and informal outdoor entertaining
Child-friendly approach and comfortable supporting children and teenagers
Both candidates must be confident drivers with valid driving licences
Fluent English and the right to work in the United Kingdom
Working Days and Hours
Schedule: Thursday to Monday, approximately 40 hours per week with flexibility required. When the family entertain, additional hours will be compensated for cooking and evening clean up
Start: Flexible for the right candidates
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Accommodation: A dedicated cottage on the estate is provided. The exact size will be given upon application. Pets are welcome to join the successful couple.
