(48702) Our client is looking for an experienced couple to look after their family home near York North Yorkshire. The home is located within a small village location which is rural but not remote and within 30 mins drive of York city centre. The period property is fully modernised and is a family home with 3 teenage children. They currently employ a small team of Gardeners and 2 part-time Housekeepers (who have been with the family for 18 & 16 years) who will stay with the family but may reduce their hours overtime. As well as looking after the family home, you will also be asked to help look after a property in York and a second property in the village which belongs to a family member, as well as being occasionally involved in looking after some other rental properties locally.


The roles will be hands on and the family are relaxed but are looking for a high standard of organisation, tidiness and cleanliness. The couple would need to be able to manage their own time, be discreet, flexible and professional but be happy in a relaxed informal family setting.


Duties will include:

Hands on cleaning, laundry an ironing (although this will be shared with the part-time staff) working over the group of properties

Organising the home

No cooking is required but if you were a keen cook this could be included on occasions but it would not be a large part of the role

Organising storage, cupboards, wardrobes in the home

Managing household utilities

Dealing with contractors

General garden maintenance working with the gardening team – use of garden machinery

Property maintenance

Tennis court, swimming pool and boat care

Driving and looking after the household vehicles

Unpacking food deliveries

Managing household goods

Security of the property

House sitting

Dog walking and sitting

Running errands


This will be a full-time role for both working 5 days with help on a Saturday morning


Start August 2018 or sooner for the right candidate


Separate cottage accommodation provided – various options available depending on the time scale. Council tax and reasonable utilities paid by the employer.
