Live-in or Live-out Housekeeper/Houseman Job in East Sussex
A client of Greycoat Lumleys is seeking a full-time Housekeeper for their large private estate in East Sussex. The estate includes a substantial main house, guest house, and cottage, and the principals are looking for an experienced, proactive, and flexible candidate to help maintain the smooth running of the property.
The family spends approximately one week per year at the East Sussex property, during which additional hours will be required, and this time will be given back as time off in lieu. Occasional travel to London or Europe to family properties would be a bonus.
Key Responsibilities:
General housekeeping and cleaning of the main house, guest house, and cottage
Daily cleaning including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and bathroom sanitation
Laundry and ironing, including care of fine fabrics and household linens
Changing bed linen and towels when the family is in residence
Running errands and managing household supplies and inventories
Supporting general household and property maintenance
Liaising with contractors and service providers
Driving duties including airport transfers and maintaining vehicles
Packing and unpacking when required
Using initiative to maintain high standards across the estate
The ideal candidate will be professional, discreet, organised, and comfortable working in a large private household. A flexible and hands-on approach is essential.
Candidates must have private household experience.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm (flexibility required when the family is in residence)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (Depending on experience and travel)
Accommodation: On the estate, private entrance. No pets or partners.
Start date: As soon as the right candidate is found
