Head Gardener / Head of Gardens job Lincolnshire

(44898) Greycoat Lumleys are pleased to be offering candidates the opportunity to apply for an exciting new role on one of Britains most historic country estates in Lincolnshire.

 

Our client is looking for a talented and experienced Head of Gardens who is able to offer both hands on horticultural experience as well as being able to manage the gardens and gardening team.

 

The estate itself has extensive gardens and grounds, landscaped by Capability Brown, covering 45 acres including parkland occupied by a herd of fallow deer and a 26 acres man-made lake.

 

Key elements of this role include:

Being responsible for the restoration, conservation, ongoing development and overall management of the gardens

Planning of the annual garden budget and allocation of funding

Planning and monitoring of plant care programmes including design, landscaping & propagation

Conducting risk and COSHH assessments

Management of on-going machinery maintenance programme

 

Candidate requirements:

Must have an understanding of water treatment

Experienced in the management of staff

Be able to interact with members of the public and visitor groups

Must hold academic horticultural qualifications level 3 or above

Have spray certificates (PA1/PA2)

Full clean driving licence

Previous practical experience in a historic garden or recognised horticultural establishment

A chainsaw certificate is desirable but not essential

Be IT literate and be able to produce progress reports including financial data

 

The successful candidate is offered a generous salary in relation to experience and pension scheme as standard.

 

Accommodation is not offered as part of the role but there is the option to rent accommodation from the estate if required
