House Manager Role for Central London Residence

An opportunity has become available for a house manager in an exclusive, newly renovated large family home in central London. The family visits the property frequently throughout the year, so the successful candidate will need to be flexible in terms of working hours throughout the duration of their stay and ensure that the residence is always fully prepared to receive the family and their guests. The role involves overall responsibility for independently managing the property to an extremely high standard and so the family are looking for a trained candidate with experience in high end hospitality or fully staffed houses and estates, with an excellent knowledge of London.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and management of all members of permanent household staff and temporary staff hired for family visits

  • Management of service at dinner parties and family dinners

  • Maintenance of a high standard of presentation and cleanliness throughout the property

  • Laundry and wardrobe management

  • Overseeing, recording and updating inventories

  • Stocking the house with toiletries, food, cleaning supplies and all other necessary products

  • General facility management, ensuring the property is always in full working order

  • Overseeing services of all contractors at the property

  • Financial management and bill payment, including preparing weekly and monthly reports for the family office

  • Administration, including diary management, making appointments and bookings and all property related documentation

  • Liaising with family office on a regular basis

 

Key Requirements and Desirable Attributes

  • 5+ years’ experience in high end estate, hospitality or luxury property management, preferably in London

  • Exceptional level of discretion and understanding of confidentiality

  • Familiar with London in regards to suppliers, events, attractions, chefs, cleaners and driving

  • Ability to use initiative and respond proactively to changing situations and ad hoc requests

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Confidence in delegating, organising and hiring staff

  • Ability to follow orders swiftly and efficiently

  • Comfortable working as part of team and forming productive relationships with the wider entourage that supports the family

 

Start date - ASAP

Live in or out – IN

Salary – 35-45k depending on experience

Hours – 9-5 Monday to Friday, with flexibility when the family is in residence
