House Parent Position Cambridge

 

1st April 2017 Start till the end of Academic year potential to go fulltime £18,000 pro rata + Rent free accommodation

This organisation provide accommodation for senior international students while they study in the UK in preparation for university. These female students aged 16 and above live independently and the residential staff are there for guidance and enforce the rules and regulations of the college.

 

  • To discuss enrichment activities, and plan a programme with the students.

  • Promote a homely environment and by interacting with all students’ find out their wellbeing and any concerns they may have.

  • Devise and oversea the rota and shift pattern of supporting resident assistants.

  • Ensure that student rooms are set, ready for new students to move into.

  • Support in the induction of new students to the accommodation with help from colleagues and the International Officer.

  • Encourage students to use the English Language at all times.

  • Supervise the management of evening meals.

  • Manage budgets

  • Monitor the boarder’s personal hygiene and be responsible for ensuring reasonable standards of cleanliness and tidiness are being maintained in students study/bedrooms and communal living areas. This will include weekly room inspections.

  • Supervise the laundry arrangements, use of the washing machine and external collections/deliveries.

  • Wake students

  • Inform the College Reception with the name of the students’ who are absent as per college policy.

  • Investigate the extent of any student illness and, where necessary, inform the College.

  • Escort student to see the doctor, and accompanying any student visiting the local NHS Walk-In Centre(s).

  • Make sure students and in their accommodation by curfew times.

  • To carry with you at all times the Accommodation Incident Diary and duty mobile phone.

  • Organise and hold a weekly meeting with all MPW students at the hostel.

Ideal candidate: someone ideally experienced in working with older children and/or international students in a residential environment. Flexible, reliable and responsible. Someone with experience in managing others. Have excellent English Language Skills. Be IT literate with good MS office skills.

 

Salary: £18,000 pro rata 43360

 

Accommodation: rent free accommodation will be provided (inclusive of all utilities)

 

Holiday entitlement: all residential staff are off for 2 weeks during the Christmas period. You will then have 2 weeks holiday to take at any time agreed with the Accommodation Manager. (During the half term break things are generally really quiet but the Resident Manager must be contactable at all times.)
