(46250) Our client is looking for an experienced hands on Housekeeper / House Manager to join a small team of existing household staff to look after a private estate near Skipton North Yorkshire.

This role is being considered on both a daily and live in basis and excellent accommodation suitable for a family is available. The Housekeeper must be hands on, experienced in being responsible for a household, be very proactive and be able to work under their own initiative. You will work with a small team of 7-8 staff (Part-time cleaner, dog walker, gardening staff, handyman and PA’s) to ensure the smooth and efficient running of a clean and organised household.

 

The family are away regularly but the property needs to be kept in a constantly clean and tidy state ready for the employers or guests arrival and any time.

 

The daily duties include:

  • Receiving and attending to guests – ensuring all guests’ stays are organised

and prepared for and that their personal needs are met

  • To undertake cleaning in areas as directed to ensure all rooms are kept in a

clean and hygienic condition and are ready at all times for potential guests

  • Maintaining household security – being on call for the house alarm

  • Order/go shopping and receive all food provisions at the property

  • Arrange when and if necessary, clothing and supplies for travelling

  • Manage household petty cash account

  • Ensure all laundry requirements are met, including dry cleaning / alterations / repairs etc.

  • When necessary, take care of resident dogs – to include walking, feeding and

caring for overnight when Employers are unavailable

  • Have an eye for detail – noting any damage, reporting as necessary and

reordering items for the house when appropriate

  • Plan and coordinate events at the property with the Employers and PA

  • Provide service/wait tables with other serving staff at house events

  • Running personal errands for the employer and household when needed

 

Experience and skills required:

  • Experience in a similar role is required

  • Exhibit highly professional standards and be very discreet in their position

  • Excellent organisational and operational skills; have the ability to plan ahead

and anticipate the needs of the Employers and their guests, and to make the

necessary provisions

  • Working knowledge of Office-based software packages, email and web

browsing are essential

  • Be proficient and well-versed in all aspects of private household service

  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude is absolutely essential

  • Silver service training preferred but not essential

  • Adaptability and flexibility are imperative

  • While the household will be extremely busy at times, there will be quiet

periods too and thus the ideal candidate will be proactive in implementing

and improving systems within the house during these times

  • A strong team-player who is happy to work with the other members of the

team

  • Discretion and loyalty are essential

  • Have a good understanding of food and food hygiene (cooking ability not

essential)

  • Have a love of animals

  • Be comfortable living in rural surroundings/countryside

  • Must have a full UK driving license

 

Working hours will be general 8am to 6om Monday to Friday with some weekends and bank holidays as required. Working hours may be longer during guest occupancy.

 

£ 27,000 to 28,000 gpa

 

A stunning large 3 bed cottage available for a live in candidate – rent paid but candidate to pay own utility bills. The cottage has its own entrance from the main road and beautiful views from large and spacious living areas. Family and pets considered
