Our client an independent day and boarding prep school in Hertfordshire, England. The school is for boys and girls aged between 3 and 13 years. The school is set in acres of beautiful countryside.
The school are looking to recruit a houseparent to work in a their mixed gender boarding house and work in a team of other house staff including the Head of Boarding.
This is a residential post with accommodation provided (this could be suitable for a couple). The day to day responsibilities for the houseparent are to look after the pastoral care of the boarders and organise events for them to partake in. This role could be combined with a teaching or coaching post.
The accommodation is a three room flat above the boarding house
Responsibilities of the role
• Houseparents are responsible for the safe running of the Boarding House and compliance with the National Minimum Standards for Boarding.
• Communicate effectively in your team of Head of Boarding, the House Matron, the Headmaster, the Bursar, the School Office and the wider school community
• Help to facilitate the induction of new boarders.
• Be available when on duty to the boarders
To keep in contact with parents and guardians and to respond to concerns of parents and guardians in every possible way, getting to know them personally whilst maintaining a professional relationship.
The ideal candidate will have the following
Salary: £25,000.00 per annum gross
Hours of Work: On a duty rota basis for 4-5 nights per week in a term time dependent upon whether a pastoral or a pastoral/teaching role. The duty rota will include weekends on a regular basis.
