Live In Couple Job Argyll Scotland

Greycoat Lumleys' client are seeking a Couple for their beautifully located coastal estate in Argyll, Scotland. The present couple have been in the role for 10 years; this is an exceptional opportunity for the right couple looking for a secure role for a number of years.

The principals require an experienced, multi skilled couple to undertake varied estate work and general property maintenance coupled with housekeeping.

The estate comprises of a colonial style lodge, a stone built 3 bedroom caretakers cottage, outbuildings and a boathouse. The property has approximately half a mile of shore frontage along with a formal garden extending to approximately 2 acres with the remainder of the land being made over to coniferous and native woodland.

This is a residential role with a remuneration package to reflect experience and skills – the gardener maintenance person is full time and the housekeeping role is part time.  A joint annual salary will be paid taking into consideration the duties and hours.

Duties will include:

  • Maintaining the lawns & hedges, dry stone walls, ponds & recently planted hardwood plantation

  • Gardening within the walled vegetable garden

  • Garden machinery maintenance

  • General estate work to include drainage & culverts, driveway maintenance, tree work & gutters

  • Qualified use of a chainsaw and spraying

  • Maintenance of the property including painting & decorating

  • Knowledge of small boats & engines would also be an advantage

  • Undertake all housekeeping duties – cleaning, laundry, ironing

  • Assisting in the garden for up to 3 days per week

  • Shopping for household supplies

  • Very occasional cooking in the lodge

The successful couple will be able to work on their own initiative and with little supervision.  As this is a remote area an appreciation of the everyday challenges of living and working in such a location must be taken into consideration.

Salary: Competitive and dependant on previous experience

Accommodation: Arent free, modernised three bedroom cottage. Free of council tax. Accommodation is not suited to a family with young children

Pets welcome but within reason and must be mentioned on application.

A Basic Disclosure Scotland check will be required for the couple
