Greycoat Lumleys’ client are looking for an experienced Couple for an exciting role in the Scottish Highlands as a Handyman/Gardener/Estate worker & child friendly Housekeeper.

 

The Principals are looking for a flexible and committed couple with very significant experience and qualifications in a range of estate based skills and duties. This ‘hands on’ pro-active couple must love the countryside and be happy to get involved where required.

 

Housekeeper

  • Good practical experience and a can-do attitude to undertake all housekeeping to a high standard

  • Cleaning of the entire main house (15 bedrooms)

  • Managing part time cleaning staff for the main house and self-catering cottages

  • Laundry including silks and fine materials

  • Ironing

  • Shopping for groceries and household supplies

  • Experienced in cooking and can cater for shoot lunches and dinner parties - cook for the freezer as required

  • Managing two self-catering holiday cottages (not fully booked throughout the year)

  • Happy to support the employer where needed, in preparation of garden parties, dinner parties and shoot lunches etc.

  • Home admin duties

  • Happy to work alongside and manage other estate employees

  • Knowledge and an interest in gardening would be a fabulous extra

  • Some weekend work where required.

 

 

Handyman/Gardener/Estate worker

  • General estate maintenance of the properties and grounds

  • Gardening including a walled garden, fruit and vegetable cultivation and some landscaping

  • Mowing, strimming, hedge trimming etc.

  • Tree felling, cross cutting and timber processing for kiln drying.

  • Fence and path maintenance

  • Maintenance of farm and garden machinery

  • Running errands and airport collections when needed

  • Ideally have a first aid certificate and be knowledgeable about health and safety legislation and the application thereof

  • Some occasional weekend work may be required specifically with reference to looking after four ponies.

  • Experience of dealing with farm livestock, operating forestry and agricultural equipment, electrical/plumbing work and basic joinery

 

Certificates for chainsaw use (essential), ATV riding, first aid, pesticide use are favourable as are experience in interior maintenance painting etc.

 

Days: Willing to work weekends where required.

 

Driving: Driving licence is essential for both due to the location of the estate.

 

Salary: The remuneration package includes two bedroom refurbished cottage, use of vehicles and salary commensurate with experience and the chance of being part of a small and friendly team.
