Live in Couple Housekeeper Cook and Maintenance Handyman/Driver Nr. Edinburgh



Greycoat Lumleys’ client are looking for a Couple for their property near Edinburgh. The couple will be responsible for the smooth running of all aspects of the home. Areas of responsibility are, the children when they are at home, the house, garden, dogs, cars, plus shopping and maintenance tasks, as required.


This is an excellent opportunity for a Couple to live just outside of Edinburgh within an estate that has other employees and a team spirit.


Duties Include:


  • Ensure the smooth running of all the domestic aspects of the house.

  • Responsibility for the household duties, including cleaning, washing, ironing, cleaning fridges, silver, fires, cupboards etc.

  • Purchase and prepare family meals when requested.

  • Assist with entertaining, including preparing of meals, clearing up and serving of food and drinks.

  • Shopping for household supplies.

  • Undertaking general maintenance jobs as necessary, and where specialist skills are required, hiring in help to an acceptable cost and standard.

  • Cleaning of Estate offices and rental cottage.



  • Up-keeping the garden so that it is well kept and looks attractive throughout the year.

  • Cleaning and organising the care of the cars so that they are always presentable and in good working, legal order.

  • Driving as required

  • Looking after the family pets, (currently 5 dogs)

  • Assisting with farm animals as required

  • Undertake all regular, “occasional” and project tasks to keep the house and garden in excellent condition.

  • Maintain all of the garden area in an attractive and well-cared for state, including care of all lawns and edges, paddocks, ponds, hedges, borders and beds, paths, driveways, fences, and trees.

  • Responsible for the general upkeep of the house, cottage, garage and all outbuildings, including all minor repairs, gutters, window cleaning and replacement of light bulbs etc.

  • Maintaining the garden tools and machinery in good working order

  • Liaising with outside help as appropriate - e.g. electrical, plumbing, heating engineers etc.

  • Painting/staining/preserving surfaces as required, both internal and external

  • Clean windows and gutters, plus repairs to roof, windows etc. as needed

  • Organising servicing (boilers, cars, other machinery), oil deliveries etc. as required.
