Live In Estate Management Couple, West CountryThe client requires an experienced domestic couple to manage their West Country estate (set on approximately 150 acres) comprising numerous different components including woodlands, pastures, small bodies of water, a vegetable garden and multiple residential buildings.

The clients do employ a Gardener so you should be happy to support the Gardener where required particularly in a wonderful walled garden so a fruit and veg /allotment style enthusiast would be ideal! The family love growing all their own fruit and veg and understanding how to do this (crop rotation, mulching, fertilising etc) would be a main criteria. They also love preserving crops to enjoy out of season (jams, pickles, chutneys, soups in the freezer etc.)

Ideally you will have some general knowledge of field care, (mowing, topping, weed control) would also be useful.

Maintenance jobs to include cleaning gutters, checking the exterior of the property i.e. roofs and windows for rot and damage, general DIY jobs, being able to look after and ’tinker’ with the mowers and strimmers

 

Household Management role to include Housekeeping, managing budgets, dealing with suppliers and liaising with the family and the PA regarding itineraries

Cooking for the family when they are in residence, it’s essential that you’re a confident family cook who enjoys cooking particularly healthy meals , occasional dinner party cooking when they have guests would be great

 

Estate Management duties will include 

  • Tend to and manage vegetable garden, glasshouse, and small orchards

  • Maintain fields and lawns surrounding the house

  • Maintain paddocks and fencing in coordination with local farmers who utilize a portion of the land for agricultural cultivation and livestock

  • Liaise with and manage contractors as appropriate 

  • Liaise with existing land agent to manage external agencies such as Defra and RPA as needed

  • Housekeeping

  • As a Housekeeper you will be responsible for the upkeep of the main house and ensure the house is kept to the highest level and be responsible for all housekeeping duties

  • Ensure residences are in good working order, inside and out

    • Maintain highest level of cleanliness; duties include laundry, windows, vacuuming, dusting and all standard housekeeping responsibilities

    • When family is in residence, plan, prepare and cook the family’s meals

    • Look after the family dogs when in residence, including occasional dog-walking

    • Keep up with seasonal work such as fireplace and flue cleaning, and gutter clean out and maintenance

    • Ensure reliable Wi-Fi and telephone service at all times, coordinate with service providers as necessary

    • Maintain appropriate service contracts for items such as pest control, equipment servicing etc. 

    • Maintain and review all utility suppliers and arrange bill payments

    • Provide support to interior design team when decorating work is necessary

    • Provide any other administration for the family as requested

  • Safety and Security

  • Ensure home and personal security including liaising with alarm company to ensure up-to-date monitoring contracts, emergency contact lists and servicing agreements are in place.

  • Ensure good attention to IT security for the family (with regular backups of data, virus controls and good levels of password management)

Days                            Monday to Friday when the family are not in residence – when they are in residence flexibility will be required and work as when your needed
