Live-in Housekeeper Job in Dorset
A private family is seeking a reliable and flexible Live-in Housekeeper to join their team on a beautiful rural estate. The property is located near Sherborne in Dorset. The property is an eight-bedroom manor house with a number of antiques and is home to a family with two children.
The estate is a working small farm and includes a variety of animals, including horses, dogs and chickens. The family spends approximately half of the year at the property, primarily during school holidays. The household also employs a gardener and additional estate staff, so the successful candidate will work as part of a small team.
This role would suit someone who genuinely enjoys country living and being surrounded by the countryside and animals. It is a lovely opportunity for someone looking for a peaceful rural lifestyle within a private estate setting.
Duties include:
General housekeeping and cleaning of the manor house
Laundry and ironing
Caring for antiques and fine furnishings
Liaising with the gardener and other estate staff
Feeding the chickens at 9am
Putting the chickens to bed in the evening (When the sun goes down)
Occasional dog care and dog sitting (extra pay)
Assisting with the smooth running of the property
Being flexible to support the family and wider estate team when required
The ideal candidate:
Previous private household or high-end housekeeping experience
Trustworthy, reliable and discreet
A team player who enjoys working alongside other household and estate staff
Flexible and happy to assist with both housekeeping and occasional animal care
Comfortable around animals and ideally experienced with dogs and/or chickens
Able to work independently and use their own initiative
A good eye for detail and pride in their work
Accommodation: A private two-bedroom cottage on the estate is provided. Pets and partners are welcome.
Working Days: 25 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9 am - 2pm
Salary: £18 GPH
