Live In Sole Gardener 

Greycoat Lumleys’ client have a wonderful opportunity for a skilled estate gardener at a beautiful private garden. The position would suit a qualified, experienced and well-rounded horticulturist with a willingness to undertake some general estate duties; organisation of repairs and maintenance, in addition to overall management of the garden. 

The garden comprises of formal lawns and grounds, mature trees and hedges, an orchard, a gorgeous walled garden, a large loch, a tennis court, a Victorian grass bowling green and a small greenhouse. There established woodland, mainly of hardwood trees, as well as gates and fences and buildings that would require some maintenance.

Garden machinery is provided including a Kubota ride-on mower, smaller ride-on mower, pedestrian mower, hedge cutters, strimmers etc. so applicants must be well-versed in the operation and basic maintenance of such equipment. 

Applicants should hold an academic horticultural qualification and have extensive hands-on experience, including in the operation of chainsaws. Chainsaw licence will be essential. Experience of overseeing contractors will be a benefit.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and experienced estate gardener to live and work on a beautiful private property in the Scottish Borders. The estate owners are passionate about their garden and are genuinely enthusiastic about the prospect of sharing their garden with a knowledgeable and experienced plants person. 

Accommodation: A two bedroom flat, adjacent to the main house is provided on site - suitable for a couple (though unsuitable for children). Utility bills and council tax paid by the gardener and provided by the client.

Salary: £20K - £25K depending on experience + accommodation and holidays.
