A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for a family based in Surrey. They are looking for an experienced and motivated Butler to oversee the smooth running of the household and staff. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, a good communicator and who is able to work well with a large team. This is a large private estate which is run and managed with structure and professionalism. They have a great team in place and are looking for someone who will fit in to their already established well run team.


General duties will include:


  • You will be responsible for providing service to all guests

  • You will be responsible for planning and organising of any events or services –utilising service assistants as necessary.

  • You may on occasions be required to cook a light breakfast if the chef is not available and it has been requested by the client.

  • You will be responsible along with service team for the maintenance and upkeep of all - glassware, crockery, bar equipment

  • You and your team will be responsible for setting up and cleaning down all guest entertaining area both inside and out- for meals/drinks and general entertainment.

  • You and your service team will assist the house-keeping department in keeping the front of house area tidy while guests are in residence. I.e. straightening cushions, folding clothes that may be left etc.

  • You will be responsible for maintaining an accurate and up to date stock of all guest consumables – i.e. wine, champagne, alcohol, water etc.

  • You will also be responsible for either ordering directly or through the Estate manager anything that needs replacing or requested by the client.

  • You and your team will be required to set and/or close down the exterior cushions as needed

  • Advise your team including the chef and the House Co-ordinator of any change of plans that may affect other departments – HC will then liaise with other departments as necessary.

  • Maintaining and keeping all Service storage areas organised, clean and tidy

  • You will be responsible for drawing up and maintaining a full inventory and storage placement of all service equipment.

  • You will be required to inform either the HC or Estate Manager of any issues or problems found by either yourself or your team.

  • You will be responsible for guest shoe care that are in communal areas.



Start date June/July 2018

Days 5 days on, 2 days off, Rota system

Salary £35 – 40K gross
