Live Out Gardener Job

A gardener is required for an exciting new project developing 26 acres of farm land in to a private residential garden in Oxfordshire. This will include creating formal gardens with topiary, a rose garden, a kitchen garden, an orchard, a lake with duck island and river side walkways with wild flowers. The gardener may also be required to work on other gardens of ours in the local area. The applicant must have a passion for creating and maintaining beautiful gardens, with a good knowledge of plants.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Planting and Pruning

  • Border maintenance: weeding, forking, cutting back, lifting and splitting, planting, staking, tying in, deadheading and watering

  • Turf maintenance: mowing using various types of machines, scarifying, spiking, top dressing, re-seeding, weed control, pest and disease control, repairing and renovating lawns

  • General ground maintenance including litter removal, mechanical and chemical weed control, manual and mechanical ground cultivation, leaf clearing, path maintenance

  • Driving and routine maintenance of tractors and attachments

  • Propagate and grow relevant plants.

  • Work around chickens and livestock.

  • You will be provided with the necessary Personal Protective Equipment, which must be maintained at all times. Should replacements be required, it is the Gardener’s responsibility to notify the Estate Manager.

  • Keep accurate records of chemical and dangerous substances used.

The ideal candidate will have previous private household experience, and a minimum of NVQ Level 2 is essential. Good plant knowledge and experience in fine turf management is a must.

You must have PA1 & PA6, and a chainsaw certificate is desirable. You will be passionate, enthusiastic, and a team player.

Working week; Monday – Friday

8.30am – 5pm
