Lucerne/Luzern area, Switzerland - German speaking Couple Job – Handyman / Maintenance Gardener / Driving / Housekeeping / Light Cooking / Happy to travel on occasion

Location Switzerland
Sector Private Households & Estates
Job Role Couple
Job Type Permanent vacancy
Salary Negotiable
Job Number  44648
Created 16 June 2017

Our client, a British lady living in Switzerland, is seeking to hire a second domestic couple to work as a back up to the principal’s Chef and Housekeeper – you will work together with the existing couple who are very nice people. You will need to speak fluent German & English (French is desirable but not essential) and you will need to be happy to drive the principal.

The ideal couple would be experienced, committed and an honest couple who are able to live and work in Switzerland. The client would ideally like to hire firstly on a short-term basis, with a view to the position becoming permanent for the right couple. They will also consider candidates who are not available immediately but need to give notice.

The roles will be divided into that of gardener/handyman/maintenance person and that of housekeeping/light cooking.

For the Gardener/handyman/maintenance person, the gardens are between 4-6 acres on a sloping site, the majority being woodland, plus lawns and there is also a formal vegetable garden.  2 full-time gardeners are already employed. You will also drive the principal.

For the Housekeeping/light cooking position, this new role will involve housekeeping assistance, as well as light cooking in the absence of the chef.  Light cooking along the lines of grilled/roasted vegetables, with grilled fish or other protein (chicken, meat), plus light sauces.  There are some special dietary requirements you will need to work to as well.

You will need to be available to travel with the principal.  Trips are likely to be a maximum duration of one week, usually within Europe, and take place less than once a month.

There is a two-storey staff house within the grounds, divided into two self-contained flats. Your accommodation will therefore be in a two-bedroomed flat, with dining/kitchen/living room, plus bathroom.

You will be required to work Monday-Friday, with every other weekend on call to assist the principal with meals, walking the dog, dealing with the alarm if it goes off, etc.

You will be given 5 weeks holiday per annum and the salary is negotiable dependent on your previous earnings.
