Private Chef is required for lovely family of 6 between their two homes in rural Essex, near Chelmsford.

 

Our client, a family with four children aged between 3 and 10 years, is looking for an experienced private chef to join their household.

On a daily basis you will be catering for the couple and their four children. At all three meals, the children eat a variety of dishes, they enjoy lots of different cuisines and like to try new things. Generally the children will eat earlier in the evening and then the lady of the house would like a meal, usually around 8.30pm once the children have all settled. She has a particular interest in healthy dishes and nutrition, therefore the chef will ideally have experience in this area. As a family they enjoy Fusion style dishes incorporating a variety of cuisines cooked healthily.

 

The family will often entertain for guests and clients. It is an open kitchen, therefore the chef has a chance to be creative and demonstrate their flair for cooking. Entertaining can happen frequently and sometimes without a great deal of notice, therefore flexibility is key to this role. At quieter periods it may be possible to have full weekends off but the family is very fair and will plan ahead as much as possible with the chef. Sometimes batch cooking for fridge/ freezer filling will be suitable.

 

All other duties including kitchen management, provisioning, ordering and larder management are included. A house car will be provided for any errands etc and shared with other staff.

There will be occasional travel with the family, to chalets and villas during school holidays. There is a six week period in Ibiza from July.

 

There are other household staff such as housekeepers, nanny, gardener and chauffeur therefore you should enjoy working as part of a team.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in private households, have an interest in nutrition and healthy eating, have knowledge of a wide range of cuisines, have an interest in wine pairing (there is a wine cellar at the house), enjoy working with children (DBS check will be required) and be presentable and well mannered.

 

Start: ASAP

 

Hours: Five day week – the client will endeavour to give two days off together. These will vary as flexibility is key in this position. Weekends included.
