Residential Matron Job at Co-Ed Independent School in Oxfordshire to start ASAP
This is a fantastic position that is offered on a temporary basis until the end of summer with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate. The position will suit someone with experience of a similar role who is thoughtful, responsible and kind.
The Matron will be part of the School’s boarding house staff team. Their role is to provide cover in the boarding houses during the day, to help provide pastoral and general welfare support for students, and to help with various aspects of the running of the Houses. Among other things, this includes making sure that any boarders who are not well enough to be in school are looked after and that their basic medical needs are met; and working with the Head of House to ensure that the laundry and general housekeeping arrangements are running smoothly.
Duties and responsibilities:
As a member of the boarding house staff team, to provide cover in the boarding houses as per a duty rota
To be aware of student health issues
To make doctor appointments and where necessary accompany students to the GP or hospital
To administer medication, strictly in line with written instructions from the School, in instances where the School has formally agreed to administer prescribed medication for a particular student
To maintain student medical records are and ensure they are kept up to date.
To help manage the weekly bed-changing and laundry process;
To ensure the laundry cupboard is kept in order, and put away clean bed linen after deliveries
Liaise with cleaners regarding sick students, ad hoc jobs & cleaning supplies, etc.
To be available to students and to provide a listening ear and pastoral and general welfare support as appropriate
Attend school social and other events, some of which may take place on evenings and weekends, such as school concerts and drama productions, Sports Day, parents’ evening and open days
Accommodation: Provided (own bedroom and shared bathroom – ensuite room available in September)
Rate of Pay: £22,000 - £23,000
