Temporary Residential Matron Job in Reading ASAP start
This is an independent boarding and day school that is situated on a site of great natural beauty. This school has an excellent academic record combined with first-rate facilities.
The House Matron is expected to love working with children and to contribute significantly to the pastoral care of the boys. She will be particularly responsible for their health, hygiene and general welfare.
Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact
Overseeing breakfast and supper as part of a rota with the other boarding staff and eating lunch with the children, as required
Encouraging smart appearance, high standards of personal hygiene, tidy dormitories and common rooms, good manners and consideration for others
To be responsible for all of the boarders (junior and senior) in areas such as laundry, clothing and tidiness
Administering first aid and medicines and keeping appropriate records, in accordance with the relevant School policies
Fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the boarding house
The ideal candidate: will have experience working with young people and experience in a boarding environment is desirable. They will be an excellent communication and be able to liaise with parents/guardians. The ability to listen and to take a positive interest in the concerns of the young are essential qualities, as are stamina, physical fitness, warmth and a sense of humour.
Hours: Mainly mornings and evenings with time off during the day. The House Matron has one full day and a ½ day off each week.
