Sports Graduate / Sports Assistant Job, Boarding School, Surrey (September Start)

A vibrant and well-established boarding school in Surrey is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and committed Sports Graduate / Sports Assistant to join its dynamic team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong sporting background who is passionate about working with young people and contributing to the wider life of a busy boarding school community. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the teaching of core Physical Education and curriculum games

  • Supporting the coaching of various sports teams across different age groups

  • Supervising sports practices, fixtures, events, and training sessions

  • Assisting with Saturday sports fixtures as required

  • Supporting pupils from Reception through to Sixth Form during PE lessons and extracurricular activities

  • Assisting with the maintenance and organisation of sports equipment and facilities

  • Supporting the planning and implementation of training programmes

  • Assisting with sports administration, including scheduling and communication with parents

  • Promoting sport and physical activity throughout the school community

  • Working collaboratively with staff to ensure the smooth running of sports-related activities 

Boarding Responsibilities:

  • Four evening boarding duties per week

  • One weekend boarding duty in every three weekends

  • Approximately 14–16 hours per week within the sports department

  • Additional Saturday fixture duties as required 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A degree-level education and relevant sporting qualifications

  • Experience playing and/or coaching a range of sports

  • Experience working with or supporting children and young people

  • A positive, caring, and reliable nature with a good sense of humour

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Flexibility, stamina, and adaptability within a busy boarding environment

  • Competence in ICT and administrative tasks

  • A genuine enthusiasm for contributing to all aspects of boarding school life

  • The ability to act as an excellent role model for young people
