Assistant Residential Mistress required for a leading independent girls school in Perthshire to start ASAP or in September 2019.


This school prides itself on its world class education. They encourage each individual to flourish and be empowered within the academic environment. The school is set in the beautiful Perthshire countryside. It is also very close to the local town and has good transport links to nearby cities; Dundee, Edinburgh etc.

Main duties:

  • To assist with organising and supervising the morning, evening and weekend routines within the boarding area

  • To take an active role in weekend activities

  • Provide support to Art or other departments

  • To monitor and assist with the academic and pastoral needs of the pupils within the boarding area under the guidance of the Residential Mistress

  • To deputise for the Residential Mistress on days off

  • To liaise with housemistresses and tutors when necessary

  • To oversee the health and wellbeing, particularly emotional wellbeing of the girls

  • To undertake regular communication with parents on matters relative to boarding

  • To support the development of the social life of the area

  • To record, monitor and report on pupils under the guidance of the Residential Mistress.

  • To meet with the Residential Mistress to discuss any serious problems relating to pupils in the area

  • To meet regularly with the Head of Pastoral Care and Boarding

  • To contribute towards good order and the wider needs of the school

  • To work in partnership with parents, support staff or other professionals

  • To undertake appropriate and agreed continuing professional development

  • To support the Residential Mistress in promoting the safety, good discipline, academic development and pastoral wellbeing of boarders in the area

  • To be involved with extra-curricular activities associated with the boarding area

  • To strive to understand the circumstances of each boarder

  • To ensure that the strengths, weaknesses, interests and aptitudes of each boarder are identified and know by staff as needed

  • To ensure that the individual talents of each boarder are developed and maximised


A diver with own car would be hugely beneficial.


The successful candidate will need to obtain a PVG which Greycoat Lumleys can assist with.


Dates: September 2019

Hours: Full-time

Accommodation: 1 or 2 bedroomed flat with bathroom, living-room and kitchen

Rate of Pay: £16,000 - £18,000 depending on experience and qualifications
