Security Person / Caretaker job Cheshire
(54368) Our client is looking for an experienced candidate to take on a Security Person / Caretaker role at a large country house in near Chester, Cheshire.
You will working with other household and estate staff and you should have previous experience in a similar role and must also already be from the Cheshire area / have local connections.
The purpose of the role is principally ensuring the security of the main property and immediate parklands surrounding this, and the family and guests thereof when in residence. This is an evolving role which will be shaped by the successful candidate skills, but it is envisaged after the primary focus on security there will be some general handyman duties in the property (the estate maintenance team are responsible for larger works) and the opportunity to work under the head gardener in maintaining the gardens.
The successful candidate will possess a practical, diligent can-do attitude. They will need excellent communication skills for dealing with the family, guests and the estate staff – but also be a self-starter as parts of this role will involving working alone in the execution of their duties. Working with the household team the goal is to ensure the property is a safe, warm, informal family home. Across the parkland areas their experience of security will ensure estate practices to do not attract attention from undesirables, and only those with business to be in the parklands are there.
It is envisaged the following are the main duties in the role:-
Security – evening checks of all external apertures to the property, primary alarm monitoring duties, CCTV monitoring, perimeter inspections and visitor admittance out of hours. Checks of other family residences within the parkland as deemed necessary. Liaising with the security representatives of neighbouring estates ensuring the sharing of knowledge for the benefit of all.
Family – must like dogs, as when the family are away the candidate will be responsible for the care of the family dogs. There will be some driving duties / errand responsibilities for the family on an ad-hoc basis. Assisting the household team in the execution of their duties where necessary e.g. setting up for conferences in the property, maintaining furniture and the like.
Caretaker – checks after heavy rain or winds to ensure the integrity of the property, making sure the immediate outside spaces of the property are presentable and tidy whilst the inside of the property is kept to a high standard of décor and maintenance for family and guests. Responsibility for ensuring the fire alarm is serviceable and drills carried out, along with ensuring the Fire Evacuation Plan is updated regularly.
Gardener – to assist the gardening team in their duties, when workload allows.
The role will attract a salary of £25,000 per annum and is a live-in position with the use of a Cottage (a two bedroomed cottage annexed to the, which has free heating, hot water and water rates). The occupier will be responsible for community charge and electricity costs. The role is 37.5 hours a week, which needs to be flexible to ensure security of the property and its environs - depending upon and activity in the property and parkland.
