Couple (Handyman/Caretaker & Housekeeper) for Estate in Argyll Scotland

Greycoat Lumley’s client is looking for a couple for their property near Oban to take on the role of Housekeeper and Handyman/Caretaker. The property is stunning and the owners are very good employers with many longstanding employees. This location is rural so the candidates must appreciate this lifestyle.


Main duties for the housekeeper:

  • Care of antiques, artworks and fine furnishings
  • Cleaning all private rooms
  • Making and changing of beds
  • Turn down of guest bedrooms
  • All laundry for the owners and guests bedding 
  • Helping at family and events
  • Occasional child and/or pet care
  • Cleaning of silver and brasses
  • Occasional help in the tearooms
  • Occasional cooking


Main duties for the handyman/caretaker:

  • Internal and external maintenance, repairs and painting etc.
  • Attending to car park and public toilets during summer season
  • Occasional butler duties
  • Security and fire procedures
  • Routine inspections of both property and grounds
  • Driving and light maintenance of vehicles
  • Helping at functions
  • Good health and safety knowledge
  • Security of the property

The client expects the couple to maintain confidentiality at all times and for them to have the ability and willingness to adapt and embrace an evolving set of tasks.


Accommodation:      Provided – rent/utility bill and council tax free

                                    1 dog allowed

Hours:                        5 days per week – flexibility required
