Greycoat Lumley’s clients seek a Couple, with a proven track record in managing a small estate, for their newly-converted, eight-bedroom farmhouse, with gardens and land in County Limerick. 

The property is based in a rural setting and therefore the Couple must enjoy country living.   The Couple will need to be self-starters, as the Principal is in part-time residence.

The property consists of the Farmhouse, adjacent Pool House, Courtyard with associated gardens including a Croquet Lawn and Stud Farm stabling.

This is a live-in role, where the Couple will be provided with a one bedroomed, converted barn as accommodation.

Gardener \ Farm Manager Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for the land and grounds on the estate, circa. 90 acres
  • Some horse-related input, depending on the applicant’s experience 
  • Security of the estate
  • Property maintenance
  • Mowing and lawn maintenance
  • Pruning, weeding
  • Walled garden with Orchard and wild flower meadow
  • Pathways’ and rough grass areas’ maintenance
  • Upkeep of woodland gardens and recently-planted trees
  • Ensuring that the Health and Safety requirements of a working Farm are met
  • Overseeing contractors
  • Bin management and recycling


The farm is mostly Organic, with as little use of chemicals as possible. 

Sheep and cattle currently graze on land and are the responsibility of their respective owners

Housekeeper Responsibilities include:

  • Management of the farmhouse
  • Care of fine art and antiques
  • Housekeeping to a high standard
  • Bin management and recycling
  • Cooking on occasion for the Principal
  • Flower arranging
  • Managing tradesmen’s access
  • Shopping
  • Occasionally driving the Principal to or from the airport
  • The property has eight bedrooms, with six available for the Principal’s guests.  There should be three weeks per year where there is a full house; otherwise, some occasional guests.
  • Preparing the accommodation, serving and clearing for guest visits
  • Cooking – certainly a joint effort when there are guests and parties, etc.

The Couple will share responsibility for the general care of the house and grounds, maintaining a tidy courtyard and terraces, managing bins and recycling and ground floor window-cleaning.

Car available for use. 

Accommodation:  One-bedroom converted barn with Kitchen-Living room and a bathroom.  Utility bill will be covered by the Principal.

Days:  5 days per week

Hours:  40 hours per week

Salary:  Competitive salary package to be negotiated
