Handyperson Housekeeper Job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and professional couple to join the team on a West Coast Estate, close to Appin in Argyll and Bute.

Handyperson/Gardener

To manage the property, land and equipment to achieve the most effective balance between maximising profit and maintaining the landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Look after and maintain the garden and policies around the main house including garden equipment and all associated work.
  • Maintain the everything in a proper manner to allow the family to enjoy the property
  • Maintain the estate fabric, carry out works of a minor maintenance nature, the replacement of slates, cleaning chimneys, painting, maintenance of estate machinery, fences, gates, hedges, ditches, etc.
  • Assist with holiday lettings, undertake viewings of both holiday and let properties and read electricity meters as and when required.
  • Undertake any duty or task identified by your employer or agent which you are sufficiently trained and equipped to carry out.
  • Assist with the fishing on the Loch and River, and as and when required, the maintenance of the boats on the estate and maintenance of riverbanks and paths.
  • Act in the capacity of Caretaker of the premises when they are unoccupied.
  • Assist to herd animals that may be grazed on the fields adjoining the property.
  • Be the responsible person for Health and Safety on the estate.
  • Report any accidents in line with the estate Health and Safety policy.
  • Ensure any staff and contractors comply with Health and Safety policies.

 

Housekeeper

To manage the main house, associated buildings and other houses on the estate, on behalf of your employer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with holiday lettings, undertake viewings of both holiday and let properties, and read electricity meters as and when required.
  • Look after and maintain the main house and associated buildings.
  • Cleaning the house and providing a laundry service for your employer.
  • Assist with looking after domestic pets and animals, if required.
  • Report to the Agent and Employer any incidents or accidents in line with the estate Health and Safety policy.
  • Ensure any staff and contractors comply with Health and Safety policies.
  • Report any accidents in line with the estate Health and Safety policy.

Working hours

Handyperson/Gardener - The normal hours of work are from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday inclusive, with a one hour break being given each day for lunch.  However, due to the nature of the job you may be required to vary your normal hours and/or to work outside of the above days and hours.  A degree of flexibility to be exercised by both employee and employer.

Driving License

Accommodation

During your employment in order to properly perform your duties, you are required and entitled to reside in a cottage provided free by the Estate.

 

To Be Successful

You must have a flexible, positive attitude with the ability to work as part of a team.

Ideally you will have previous experience in maintaining a good-sized family house, laundering, maintaining gardens, policies and estate fabric, vehicles, mowers, and assisting with holidays lets, however training can be given to the right candidate.
