Part-time or Full-time Gardener Job Disley Cheshire - 2+ days per week - September start - £20+ per hour

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic, creative and committed sole gardener with great plant knowledge to maintain, improve and further enhance an established and newly landscaped country house garden is Disley Cheshire.  The main role will be to work in this Garden 2 full days per week but there is also the possibility of additional days being available working at another privately owned garden in the same area.

The main property has a 1½ acre garden which comprises of formal lawns, herbaceous and shrub borders, tiered terracing, kitchen, and courtyard gardens belonging to enthusiastic hands on owners who enjoy living in this outdoor space.

Development of the kitchen garden by adding a 10m glasshouse and cold frames is planned for 2023.

The second property adjacent has a 1½ acre garden comprising of lawns and mature herbaceous and shrub borders, this being a blank canvas for development into something special.

The gardener will have a hands-on role in the daily care of the garden, and this offers an opportunity to continue the improvement and development of the garden. He/She will be passionate and take pride in their work and will maintain and present the garden to a high standard. The gardener will need to be self-motivated, organised, able to plan and prioritise their workload. The individual will work closely with the owners and should be able to manage external contractors if engaged from time to time.

Responsible for:

Working with and educating and advising the owners to develop beautiful gardens suitable for outdoor living.

Maintenance of the gardens including, weeding, deadheading, trimming, and provision of cut flowers for the house.

Care and management of herbaceous plants, shrubs, lawns hedges and trees

Planting and re-planting as appropriate.

Routine garden machinery maintenance.

Gardeners room.

Clear understanding of and working within Health and Safety regulations

Applicants must have:

Time served experience

Excellent plant knowledge coupled together with technical skills, experience of thinning/renovating mature shrubs and pest and disease knowledge

2 days + per week

£20.00 per hour + self employed

September start
