Gardener Job nr Crewe Cheshire - Exclusive to Greycoat Lumleys
An experienced and responsible Gardener is required to work in a private garden and landscape in Cheshire. It is an exciting opportunity to work in a newly planted garden within an existing established landscape setting.
The position is full time and he/she will be required to work as part of a team with other garden staff. The candidate should be happy to carry out a wide range of general garden and landscape maintenance work, to ensure that the grounds are kept in optimum condition. Whilst there will be external maintenance and service contractors for items such as the irrigation, lake, cascades, lighting, sheep grazing and various energy elements; they would be expected to gain a working understanding of relevant equipment for the day to day management.
The site incorporates existing woodland, newly planted woodland copses, mature specimen trees, mixed shrub and herbaceous, formal and informal planting, formal lawns, a wetland area, cascades, meadow, grazed parkland and a new large lake. There is a river running through the site, as well as a walled garden planted with annuals, fruit and vegetables, along with an ornamental pool, glasshouse, potting shed and chicken / rabbit coop.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain the grounds to the highest horticultural standards throughout the seasons and have a sound understanding of general garden machinery, their uses and maintenance. They should be willing to undertake training as required and qualifications in spraying (PA1 and PA6), hedge-cutting and chainsaw use would be an advantage. They should have comprehensive plant knowledge and familiarity with most gardening practices as well as a good understanding of Health and Safety issues.
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and capable of working as part of a team, have a valid driving license and be comfortable around animals.
