One of London's leading Event Companies is looking for a dynamic Head Chef to join their team. The events company is one of London’s finest with a good reputation to maintain. They have an image of luxury and this filters into their events and then into the food as well. They pride themselves on providing the best, which includes everything from staffing to food, to venues and to the events. The Chef needs to have an understanding of this and be able to work with this image, and the maintenance of this, in mind. They are also one of London's most popular events and catering companies, and can cater for small events up to large ones for numbers in the thousands. They do anything from canapés and bowl food, to sit down dinners and banquets with a few courses, or full on tasting menus. The style of food is modern British fine dining, but with influences of international cuisine, and of course seasonality plays a large part in the menus. This is a very exciting opportunity to be involved at the highest level of London's food scene.
The Head Chef will be responsible for running the event kitchen, and managing the team of Chefs. This includes responsibility for the agency staff, which can number 40-50 on busy event days. Menu planning, tastings for clients, budgeting, new recipe ideas and running the kitchen are all parts of the role. They should have experience in leading a large team of Chefs, mainly agency, and know how to delegate and manage a team. Organisation and motivation will be very important characteristics for this role, particularly to manage the administration side. Creativity is also essential, and the ability to come up with new ideas for menus. The Head Chef will have good presentation skills, a good palate and experience in suing modern techniques.
The right candidate will have a predominantly events background, but will be up to date with moder trends in cuisine, presentation and style. If someone has travelled, that is also a bonus, as they will bring different cultures and ideas to the role. The role will suit someone who enjoys being busy, gets a buzz out the environment and has a real passion for food.
Currently, going into the busy season, they would like the candidate to start as soon as possible.
