Head Housekeeper Job Altrincham, Cheshire
Our client is looking for an experienced Head Housekeeper to look after the smooth running of a newly-renovated, large period property in Altrincham, Cheshire. The property is the main residence of a busy couple who will be the only full-time residents of the house but expect to have regular guests.
The couple are looking for a professional but down-to-earth, resourceful and hard-working candidate who can operate to a high standard, working with them but under your own initiative to keep the property running smoothly. Main duties will include wardrobe maintenance, laundry and light cooking.
A part-time Housekeeper is already employed (30 hrs pw) who looks after majority of cleaning in this extensive property but you do still need to be hands-on and have a can-do, will-do approach to help-out as necessary
Accommodation can be offered but this could be a live-in or live-out role.
The Head Housekeeper will need to be proactive and work closely with the housekeeper, their private PA plus other property maintenance, security and gardening staff and needs to very much be a team player.
To ensure that the property is always kept to a high standard, have excellent attention to detail and be responsible for the finished presentation of the property
To ensure the smooth running of the property
Manage the laundry and wardrobe maintenance (ironing in-house is not essential)
Cooking for the couple - menu-planning, grocery shopping, larder management, preparation of an evening meal, plus occasional lunches and breakfasts for them;
Manage household accounts and keep a track of household expenditure
Deal with trades and contractors
Household shopping (groceries and maintenance products)
Monitoring household maintenance requirements
Meeting and greeting and looking after guests
Assisting with the organisation of events and being front of house when they are entertaining
Driver essential; use of car can be provided
Proactive, resourceful and full of initiative
Meticulous attention to detail
Good cooking skills for healthy, well-balanced meals
Dinner party cooking a bonus but not essential
Ability to manage and maintain his and hers wardrobes
Proficient with IT and household technology
Proactive and resourceful
Can-do and will-do attitude
This is going to be a long-term role for the right candidate.
Full-time normally 40 hours per week but with flexibility needed for occasional evenings and weekend work
Accommodation can be offered in the form of a new 1 bed duplex apartment, separate to the main house
£35,000 to £40,000 gpa
