Head of Gardens & Estates Manager - Exclusive to Greycoat Lumleys
An experienced and responsible Managerial Head Gardener is required to work across a number of residential properties with private gardens and landscapes, as well as a number of smaller residential properties and a few commercial buildings. The majority of properties are in Cheshire and Staffordshire. It is an exciting opportunity to take on managerial coordination responsibility, working within a wider network of specialist maintenance operatives.
The position is full time and he/she will be required to assess the existing resources, review the overall workload and put together a detailed work-schedule going forward. The role is to focus on enabling the smooth operation of the management and maintenance at each site. This will also include coordination with external contractors (maintenance and service) for any specialist elements.
The properties are split in type. There are residential properties with existing dedicated garden teams that require someone with extensive horticultural and management experience to help oversee the annual work-schedules, as well as to propose seasonal and long-term planting and maintenance strategies. These gardens are well designed and laid out but require high-level direction to ensure they achieve their full potential.
There are also a number of smaller residential properties and a couple of commercial sites that have a roaming team that focus on the day-to-day maintenance. The role will include planning and overseeing the team/s, identifying their scope of work at each site and then ensuring they are fully mobilised and equipped to complete their works.
The successful candidate will be expected to understand the requirements of maintaining properties and grounds to the highest standards. They should be well organised, technologically proficient, good at communicating, efficient, and have a meticulous eye for detail with proven supervisory experience. They should be good at budget planning and have a comprehensive understanding of the relevant Health and Safety Regulations, environmental management, manual handling and risk assessment. They should be both self-motivated and capable of working as part of a team, have a valid driving license and be comfortable around animals.
