Housekeeper Job Nr Telford Staffordshire

(53673) Our client is looking for an experienced Housekeeper to take on a highly recommended live in role working as part of a small happy team in rural Staffordshire. The role comes highly recommended by the current Housekeeper who has been with the family for 8 years and who is going on Maternity leave in November. This role will be initially to cover her Maternity Leave for 1 year.

The property is a large family home in a rural setting which has a family and more formal side which is used when entertaining. The family are relaxed and informal. You will be working with another full-time Housekeeper and Chef to ensure the smooth running of the home. The current housekeeper knows the house like the back of her hand so there are efficient and practical routines already in place which keep the home to a high standard and a full hand over will be given.

The role will start in October with a months hand over and will lead into the start of the busy shooting season. This could suit someone who is looking to take on a role following a summer season on a yacht or villa for example and comes with excellent self contained private accommodation suitable for a partner.

The main duties will include the smooth running of the house as well as hands on cleaning, laundry and ironing coordinating with the other Housekeeper. There are normally 2 adults in residence with 2 teenage children at boarding school who are home on holidays and older children who live in London and visit. The family also have 2 dogs and 2 small family pets.

The right candidate for the role needs to have previous housekeeping experience and be an all-rounder who will muck in, have an eye for detail, be practical, hands on, have a good sense of humour, be able to work as part of a team and be happy in their work.

You will also be running errands, ensuring that the house is always organised, preparing guests bedrooms and working front of house in the dining room when the family entertain (including eight shooting days with four shoots over weekends from October to January).

You will also be responsible for the security of the property when the family are away as well as keeping an eye on the general condition of the property, identifying any maintenance issues and alerting the estate maintenance team.

While the family are away you will also be responsible for the 2 dogs, dog sitting, taking them for walks and feeding them so a dog lover is essential.

The main hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with an hours lunch and paid overtime for evenings and weekends which are by advance notice.

Driver essential – pool car for work use

Accommodation is offered as a self contained one bed flat. It is very private and this privacy is highly respected by the family who recognise that the flat is your home and they would only ever bother you outside of hours in an emergency. The flat has been recently refurbished and all bills paid by the employer – partners welcome – sorry no cats. Guests also welcome.
