Live In Companion/Carer/Housekeeper job in Oxfordshire
A fantastic position working in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside to join a wonderful team to help with running a Couple’s large family home. You will be integrated as part of the family so should enjoy being within a friendly team and the wider community.
The Estate is home to a delightful Couple who are retired, however the Lady of the house is still very involved in the charities they set up and both she and her husband are very active.
The gentleman of the house requires a Companion to accompany him when he wishes to go out walking, having lunch/dinner with him and his wife and being on hand to assist him where needed. In the long term you will be required to help with dressing and showering the gentleman. You should love the outdoors and have a good sense of humour and be happy to care for a very warm and gentle client.
Housekeeping duties will include assisting 2 full time staff in the house with cleaning, laundry, ironing and cooking simple family meals e.g, soups, salads, traditional home cooking. They are happy for you to follow recipes and can teach you all the couple’s favourite dishes.
The gardens have an amazing abundance of vegetables and fruit trees which you would also play a part in picking for the family meals to cook with each day. All the staff are also given a lot for personal use in your own accommodation.
Although they already employ a driver, there maybe times you will be required to take the gentleman to various destinations/ on outings, so it is essential that you can drive. You will travel with the Couple to their property in France, approx. 3-4 times a year for 1-2 weeks at a time and will stay in the main house with them and accompany them when going out for meals which they enjoy when on holiday. You will be required to pick up their hire care and drive them to their holiday home. They also go to Wales once a year for a long weekend in the summer which you will typically be required to accompany them to.
You must have experience working as a carer. Although it’s not necessarily needed so much now as currently it's more a companion position, it will become part of your role in the future. You should be flexible In your duties and be willing to muck in where required in the home and most importantly get on with people and be happy to work as part of a team as this is how this household works.
It's a very relaxed and informal environment who have employed staff for a number of years and a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm with 1hr 30 min break
Every other weekend you will be required to work 1hr in the morning and 1 hr in the evening to put the meals out and clear away .This is as part of a rota system
Accommodation: A one bedroom apartment in the main house on the top floor, with a small kitchenette and bathroom. You are encouraged to use the main kitchen in the house if you wish to at any time as well as the large bathroom on the floor below.
Salary: £30k + depending on experience
