Live In Couple Job - Gloucestershire

An excellent Couple position has arisen in a beautiful, Cotswold village weekend / holiday home of approximately 8,000 square feet with tennis court and stables set in 2 acres of gardens and a further 6 acres of land. The family seek a couple who are self-motivated, pro-active and forward thinking. The duties can be divided according to skills and experience. The couple will be responsible for the day-to-day management and security of the property.

Main Duties:

Cooking: Excellent cook up to a dinner party standard, menu planning, shopping locally and online, when family are in residence breakfast, lunch, children's tea and dinner.  Except for dinner parties, for most part the house is informal and enjoys a healthy and balanced diet served family style – e.g. Ottollenghi / Jamie Oliver / Nigella.

Cleaning:  Looking after an 8 bedroom property, you will be required to be hands on with cleaning, laundry and ironing, laying beds. Dealing with flowers, laying tables, clearing tables, afternoon tea trays, laying fires, Christmas decorations, taking and opening deliveries,

General House & Garden Maintenance: Within the property and general outbuildings, filling wood baskets, checking gas levels, liaising with contractors for yearly servicing of boilers, burglar alarms, chimneys, garden machinery/equipment etc. Overseeing house for any problems, signs of leaks, gutter clearing in autumn etc. Mowing formal lawns and fields, pruning, keeping all paths/driveways and ponds clean. Setting out garden furniture in the summer (some power washing required), keeping the all-weather tennis court maintained and clear, co-ordination with occasional outside contractors and with our gardener (3 days per week). Maintenance and cleaning of two onsite cars as well as the London car.

Occasional Duties:

Driving: Local errands (Butchers, food shopping etc), station runs, etc

Baby-sitting: Family has twin boys aged 4.5

At certain times the job would involve the couple working together in the house and working as a team. You will occasionally be asked to serve drinks and canapes and to help serve at dinner parties.

Working Week

5 days per week - (Tuesday and Wednesdays as days off)

When family not in residence days can switch to Monday – Friday. The family is in residence every other Christmas. The family travels away over Christmas or New Year (2-3 weeks), Easter (3-4 weeks) and Summer (July/August).

Accommodation:

New accommodation of 1,200 Sq Ft has just been built in the grounds, separate from the Main House and with a partially secluded south facing garden area. 1 bedroom with a larger living area (inc sofa-bed), dining area, bathroom, shower room and kitchen. Bills / Council tax / Internet paid.

You will have use of a Land Rover Defender 110.

Experience / Skills:

  • Fluent English speakers
  • The right to work in the UK – Family is looking for a min. 2/3 year commitment
  • Experience of working with children
  • Confident cook with strong repertoire
  • Previous Housekeeping / Cleaning experience of a large, busy house
  • Driving Licence ideally both but essential one is a driver
  • Computer literate and email user
  • Ideally you will have good general DIY duties
