Live In Couple – Estate Manager  & Housekeeper - North Devon  

An excellent position, working for a returning client of Greycoat Lumleys who require a hands on experienced Couple to manage and run their beautiful home on a large estate in North Devon. It is a converted Farmhouse with out buildings for which you will also be responsible. The property is a relaxed family home for a busy family. The client is looking for an experienced couple who are used to the hustle and bustle of a family home and are able to work together to provide excellent organisation and a well-run estate.  The clients requires a high level of efficiency and reliability. Both candidates must be patient, capable of working under pressure and comfortable with using their own initiative. Flexibility and enthusiasm for the role is also essential in a job in which unexpected items might come up from time to time.

Duties will include:

ESTATE MANAGER

  • To ensure the main house and outbuildings, including storage barns, are clean, maintained and organised
  • To maintain a large area of land, fruit & vegetable gardens, borders and woodland management, taking care of as much maintenance as possible yourselves
  • Liasing with principal and family office
  • Project management (primarily renovations) – Instructing contractors and suppliers; invoicing; budgeting; effective planning , management as well as dealing with local council, Heritage England and listed building bodies for planning permissions etc.
  • Driving
  • Looking after the household vehicles including Agricultural machinery
  • Woodland Management
  • Pool maintenance
  • Liaise with farming agency over farmer tenancy agreements, subsidises and grants
  • Animal care including Ponies
  • Staff management and recruitment; ensuring hours are recorded and payment is made

HOUSEKEEPER

  • Hands on housekeeping to a high standard of the main house and other properties as needed.
  • Laundry and ironing, wardrobe management and assistance with packing
  • Running and organisation of the house to include Household admin & household accounts
  • Shopping and running errands
  • Helping when the family entertain
  • Occasional cooking using the produce from the garden, interest in Vegetarian cuisine would be a bonus
  • Dealing with contractors and tradespeople and managing any part time daily help

Both must be drivers and both should be computer literate

Both to help with the family pets as needed

Hours               Generally Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with occasional weekends when needed- days off in Lieu

Drivers            both must drive

Accom             separate 2 bed House in the village provided  - Pets will be considered
