Live In Couple Job, Oxfordshire, Housekeeper & Handyman, Gardener
A lovely client is looking for a Couple to look after their countryside house which is in a stunning area of natural beauty in Oxfordshire, the property is a nine bedroom house and its situated in 20 acres of paddocks and water meadows. There is a couple of acres of formal gardens, an experienced part time Gardener looks after the gardens however you will be required to assist her.
The principals use the household primarily as their main residence however they do spend 2-3 nights in London mid week and go away in the summer months 2-3 weeks at a time. They have grown up children who often come home at weekends and occasionally they will have a full house at weekends but not often.
As a housekeeper you will be required to do the cleaning, washing and ironing. (Ideally if you can do some simple family cooking that would be great but not essential). You will be expected to do some cooking if the client is away and have something ready for them when they come home and assist in the kitchen on weekends when the owners entertain.
A part-time Gardener is employed and a part-time Groundsman who does the lawns and garden maintenance, however, you will be required to work with both staff members and have overall responsibility for the upkeep of the estate and gardens. There is also a small kitchen garden that you will be responsible for. A knowledge of plants and growing vegetables is useful or being willing to learn and having an interest in gardening. You should be confident with using a chain saw and tractors, and other garden equipment.
The role will also involve managing the property on a day to day basis, paying household accounts, dealing with contractors, paying them and scheduling maintenance including looking after several cars (service, tax, MOT, washing and vacuuming) The family have two dogs who live at the property all week, a Terrier and Whippet, you will be responsible for them when the family are away and being at the house for security.
They have horses and sheep on the estate, a groom is employed but if you can help out occasionally this is an advantage.
Accommodation: 1 bedroom cottage – a dog is welcome as long as gets on with dogs (sorry no cats)
Days of work: 5 days per week (Sunday and Monday days off)

Salary: £50K- £53K Gross combined
