Live In Couple Job – Sussex/Surrey Border

A client are looking for a hardworking live-in Couple with high standards to maintain the large country house on the West Sussex/Surrey border and to keep it in impeccable running order.   You will be joining an existing team of an Estate Manager, PA and 2 other office team members.


The clients are looking for Housekeeper who is willing to undertake daily cleaning, laundry and other household duties including caring and occasional dog walking for the 2 dogs.   Cook informal evening meals once or twice a week and occasional Sunday lunches.  

As a Gardener/Groundsman you will be required to work alongside the Estate Manager assisting him with all garden maintenance duties, general handyman jobs, swimming pool maintenance and general upkeep of the estate.


Hours – 40 hours a week Monday to Friday with flexibility of occasional help over the weekends if required when the principal is entertaining guests or requires dog/house sitting or driving duties.

Housekeeping duties will include but will not be limited to:

  • Daily cleaning including a high level of skill with silver ware, antiques, and artwork.
  • Dog feeding and occasional walking
  • Laundry/Ironing (weekly laundry company currently employed for bedding only)
  • Running errands and assisting the lady of the house organise the day-to-day duties in the home
  • Occasional cooking to provide an evening meal during the week
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time


Gardener/Groundsman duties to include:

  • Attending to all hedging, tree work, field maintenance, or overseeing external contractors in these areas
  • Ensure the smooth-running, general upkeep and maintenance of the main house and annex property.
  • Supervising visiting contractors carrying out maintenance, deliveries to the property
  • Ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and kept in good conditions.
  • Keeping regular maintenance records – daily/weekly/monthly – and attending to any issues arising
  • Occasional chauffeuring duties.
  • Liaising with PA and other office staff
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time

The candidates must have exceptional organisational skills and multi-tasking abilities as well as being trustworthy and flexible with a good sense of humour.  Fluent English spoken preferred. 

Own car and a full driving license.    

Accommodation - 2 bedroom accommodation (newly converted barn) - Suitable for a well behaved pet

Start Date – ASAP

Salary - £60K-£65K GPA 

Working Week - 5 days per week - mixture of weekends and weekdays off
