Live in Housekeeper/Cook job
A friendly family in Holland Park are looking for a Live in Housekeeper/Cook to help take care of their family. The family comprises of the two parents and four children: the two eldest are at university abroad, the 13 year old girl weekly boards and the 11 year old boy is at day school in Sussex.
During the week (term time), dad is the only resident in their London home as mum lives in Brighton (Sussex,4 bed house) with the children near their school. The family spend weekends together in London (just mum, dad and the two youngest children) and travel to their country residences in Devon and Sussex in the school holidays, plus their ski chalet in Courcheval (France).
In London they already employ a part time Housekeeper (2 half days), PA and Driver who you will work alongside. There other houses are staffed and you will also need to liaise with the Estate Manager in Devon.
Your daily duties may include:
- Assisting the part time Housekeeper with cleaning, Laundry & Ironing. There are expensive art pieces and antiques to care for.
- Supervising the part time cleaner in London (and the part time cleaner in Devon when working there)
- Wardrobe management, hand washing of delicates and packing of suitcases when they travel
- Shared care of the Dog- helping walk/feed
- Grocery shopping and some simple family style cooking as required
- Liaising with the PA in London and the Estate Manager in Devon regarding the family’s movement between the two properties
- Babysitting two of the children – aged 11 & 13
You will be required to travel to Devon (and occasionally Sussex) to help out at the family’s country home where they spend typically approximately 4 months of each year altogether. In Devon a live out Groundsman is employed (in addition to the Estate Manager and Part time cleaner.) The family regularly have guests to stay in school holidays, so you must enjoy working in both busy and quiet environments and be able to easily adapt.
It is essential that you can drive. A car can be provided for those who do not have their own.
The ideal candidate will be positive, happy and have a can do attitude.
