Live in Mother’s Help job in Watford, Hertfordshire

A lovely couple with a 3.5 year old daughter with Cerebral Palsy are looking for a kind and compassionate Mother’s help. The family reside in a 5 bedroom house in Watford. the ideal candidate would be someone who is experienced in or is keen to learn more about physiotherapy, OT, Alternative and Augmentative Communication, Conductive Education Therapy and other different therapy approaches. No experience is needed but you must be a keen learner.

Mum is around so the role involves mainly shared charge. The role is split between the UK during term time and abroad during the school holidays- mainly Czech Republic.  We are ideally looking for someone who speaks fluent Czech and who would be happy to travel with them there. When the family are in Czech they are open to you spending time with your own family- hours of work can be adjusted. Accommodation in Czech will be in a hotel, in other locations you will have own bedroom in the same accommodation as the family 

Your main duties will include:

  • Helping Mum look after the daughter (the daughter is in a wheelchair)
  • Nursery & school runs- it is essential you are a confident driver in the UK and abroad.
  • Taking the daughter to activities and appointments
  • Keeping the house clean and tidy
  • Family laundry and ironing
  • Light cooking
  • Accompanying the family abroad (they travel to the Czech Republic at least 6 times a year)
  • Helping with the bath and bedtime routine
  • Running errands
  • Shopping

The ideal candidate would be flexible, calm, patient and happy to follow instructions. Someone with a background in caring for children with disabilities would be a bonus but training can be provided for the right person.

Accommodation: bedroom ensuite in the house. Live out candidates might also be considered as long as you can sometimes stay overnight with the family.

Days & Hours: Monday – Friday 40 hours per week

Salary: negotiable, depending on experience
