A client of ours - a neighbourhood restaurant set within a multipurpose space – is looking for a Senior Sous Chef to join their kitchen team. The venue is housed in a former power station and coal store, the 9,000 sq. ft site combines a restaurant, bar, coffee kiosk, retail store, events space, and photography studio. They have an open kitchen with plenty of natural daylight and amazing equipment, including a wood-burning oven and charcoal grill.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Sous Chef looking to develop their career and skills within an established brand under a forward-thinking head chef and team. They work with the best suppliers using seasonal, British produce and are looking for an organised, responsible and motivated Senior Sous Chef with a positive and friendly attitude to assist in the general running of the kitchen.

The role:

  • Ensuring that all company policies are adhered to
  • Taking an active role in coaching and developing staff and restaurant communication
  • Running shifts and managing the kitchen efficiently, effectively ensuring all duties and daily prep are completed within the time frames, and complying with all legislation regarding food hygiene and health and safety standards
  • Providing the highest levels of service
  • Maintaining company’s ethos and style

Essential skills/experience:

  • Level headed and consistent in nature, trustworthy and reliable
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure
  • Passion for great food and people
  • 2+ years’ experience of Sous Chef level within a kitchen
  • 3+ years’ experience within a high-volume branded restaurant operation
  • Highly skilled on each of the stations in the kitchen
  • Attention to detail in relation to food service (quality, portion size, presentation and consistency)
  • Proactivity in important areas such as health and safety and food hygiene

Desirable skills/experience:

  • Externally recognised food and/or health and safety qualification
