Live in Couple Job in Oxfordshire
A fantastic opportunity for a Domestic Couple to work at a stunning property in Oxfordshire that is used as a luxury exclusive hire wedding venue for weekend stays between June and the end of September. The Estate spans 2,000 acres and the main property sleeps up to 24 people in 12 bedrooms.
This a main residence for the principal & his family between October & May. There is a cat at the property.
Another live-in Domestic Couple (Housekeeper & Gardener) and a wider team of staff including gardeners, a gamekeeper, maintenance staff & the estate secretary are also employed.
The roles are for a Cook/House Manager and Houseman / Estate Worker.
Both roles involve an element of hospitality and front of house, and you will be assisting in welcoming guests staying for weddings and showing them to their rooms, helping with luggage, making sure the guests are looked after but not offering a butler service. The emphasis is on creating a refined, individual and luxury experience for all clients and visitors with an element of discretion & privacy.
Both roles will be key to managing the smooth running of the property together with the general upkeep and security whilst providing a quality service to the principals and guests.
Duties:
- Managing the day to day running of the property
- Grocery shopping and running errands
- Menu planning for the principal
- Cooking daily simple meals for the principals as required
- Cooking for occasional informal dinner parties of between 6-16 people generally at weekends for the principal and in the summer wedding season cooking breakfast for up to 24 guests, Thursday – Sunday an occasional lunches or dinners, served family style of buffet style. ( NB all wedding careering is looked after by outside caterers)
- Helping the wedding planner to ensure the smooth-running of any venue-related issues during the weddings at weekends and helping with logistical issues, such as moving hired furniture from one location to another, eg from the marquee to the pool area for a party the day after the wedding day.
- Assisting the Housekeeper with the housework during busy times or to cover staff holidays or sick days
- Front of house duties during the wedding season (greeting guests, helping with luggage etc)
- Garden maintenance duties during the winter months for one of you (cutting logs & trees etc). You ( the estate worker) may be required to drive a tractor and quad bike and use a chain saw / learn to use one.
The ideal couple will be flexible, hands on, practical, polite, adaptable, presentable and enjoy a front of house facing role.
Start date: ASAP or by early May latest
Accommodation: Large double bedroom, bathroom and large sitting room with open fireplace within the main property with a shared kitchen entrance. You will have sole use of the main house kitchen. No pets or dependents can be accommodated. All bills included (except mobile phone) as well as food costs
Salary: £70k per couple pro rata a year plus a combined bonus paid in October once the Wedding season is over. A car and food are provided during your working week.
Working week: 5 days a week, to include every weekend generally with Tuesdays & Wednesdays off, any overtime will be paid for.
Hours: approx 42 hours a week during the winter with longer hours during the Wedding season at weekends but more time off during the week.
Driving: Yes, both need to be confident drivers
