Live-in or Live-out Housekeeper required near Pulborough in West Sussex

A versatile role is available for a Housekeeper who enjoys a physically demanding job. A very warm and friendly family is seeking a live-in Housekeeper for their stunning Georgian property on a large rural estate. The family comprises of two adults, two adult daughters, one cat and one dog. They are looking for an experienced, self-sufficient, and organized candidate, who can work independently to complete the job.

The main duties will be housekeeping the seven-bedroom property, which will include cleaning antiques, porcelain, old books, and marble. Someone who takes pride in caring for historical pieces will be an added advantage. The family hosts weddings and events on the estate approximately 12 times per annum. During these times, the candidate will be required to help with some duties, such as managing car parking or cleaning up afterward.

This job includes some gardening, which entails mowing using a ride-on mower (not essential but preferred) as well as watering some plants. The client would also prefer a candidate who is willing to house and animal sit when the family is away.

This could be a live-in role for the right candidate. The accommodation provided is a lovely one-bedroom separate flat with a sitting room/kitchen and bathroom. The client is open to accommodating a live-in partner, as well as a well-behaved dog, at their discretion. 

Duties to include:

  • Hands on cleaning, laundry and ironing

  • Knowledge of handling and cleaning antiques and valuables

  • Cooking would be a bonus

  • Tending to the garden, watering plants.

  • Using a ride on mower during summer months (training provided)

  • Dog walking

  • Running errands

  • Calling and dealing with contractors

  • Occasional house and animal sitting

  • Holidays ideally taken outside the summer wedding season is preferred

 Driving is needed in order to access the property

 Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm with a lunch break, except during wedding weeks when it would be Tuesday-Saturday 8am-5pm with a lunch break.

Accommodation: Your own self-contained one-bedroom flat. Some bills are paid. Partners and a well-behaved dog are welling once vetted.

Salary: £35,000 to £38,000 GPA
