Gardener Job - Northwich Cheshire - start asap - £27,000+ gpa doe
Our client is looking for an experienced full time Gardener for our privately owned 10 acre estate in Cheshire near Northwich. The person needs to be self motivated with good horticultural knowledge who is capable of working efficiently as part of a team (working with another full-time Gardener) and on their own initiative. The estate consists of approx 10 acres of gardens encompassing lawns, herbaceous borders, walled garden, gravel garden, topiary, mature trees, a lake and other water features and container planting.
Applicants will need experience of day to day maintenance of large gardens. In addition they need knowledge of basic machine maintenance, driving tractors with front loader and grass cutting attachments, good plant knowledge along with an understanding of pest and disease identification and control. They need the ability to plan and organise work, work under own initiative as well as be happy to take direction where given.
The applicant will need to have a full driving licence , good communication skills, be reliable, flexible and happy to help out with other estate jobs such as general maintenance, driving and running errands.
Duties will include:
Lawn maintenance and care
Basic knowledge of horticultural practices eg maintaining herbaceous borders, shrub pruning, hedge cutting, pest control, lawn care, application of herbicides/pesticides,
Strimming
Weeding and chemical spraying - Chemical spray certificate needed.
Hedge trimming
Lawn care
Garden and grounds maintenance
Tractor driving with attachments
Competence in operation and maintenance of all garden machinery.
Establishment of new garden areas
Ideal would be for the candidate to also have their Pa1 & Pa6 spraying certificates and RHS Level 2 or equivalent.
Working Week - Monday to Friday - full-time
