Live-Out Permanent Private Chef Job, Essex Our client is seeking an experienced Live-Out Private Chef to work at their private residence in Essex. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing daily meals for a family, with occasional catering for additional guests. Previous experience working within a private household is essential, and experience supporting high-profile principals is highly desirable. A professional, discreet approach and complete confidentiality are paramount. The chef will be required to arrive at the property by 10:30am to prepare lunch, followed by an afternoon break before returning to prepare the evening meals. Lunch service is informal, while dinner is a more formal occasion. The family enjoys a varied, healthy, and seasonal diet, and the successful candidate should be confident producing high-quality cuisine to an exceptional standard. The family travel regularly during school holidays, providing periods of downtime. There may also be occasional international travel required. There are no dietary restrictions, however, the chef should have an understanding of preparing nutritious meals suitable for a mother during the post-partum period. This is a relaxed and informal household, and the successful candidate will be required to prepare family-style meals rather than formal dining. The role will include menu planning, shopping, and provisioning for all ingredients. The working schedule will primarily be Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required for occasional weekend support. The ability to travel with the family from time to time would be advantageous. The successful candidate will act as the Principal’s trusted representative, ensuring the highest standards of hospitality, discretion and property management. This role requires a hands-on, service-led professional (either individual or as a couple) capable of delivering a seamless guest experience while managing all aspects of the chalet’s operation. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary point of contact for the Principal, family members and guests. Deliver exceptional, personalised guest experiences and anticipate individual preferences. Oversee the day-to-day operation, presentation and maintenance of the chalet. Manage and coordinate household staff, seasonal employees and external contractors. Alongside cooking, the role will include light childcare support when required, including school pick-ups, assisting with children’s routines, and supporting the family during busy periods. You will also oversee kitchen operations, including ingredient sourcing, supplier management, provisioning, stock control, and maintaining a highly organised and efficient kitchen. The family consists of two adults and two school-aged children and are looking for a chef who can provide delicious, nutritious home-cooked meals while managing all aspects of kitchen organisation and provisioning. The role will involve preparing daily lunches and dinners, with occasional breakfasts, tailored to the family's preference for healthy, seasonal and organic food. The mother typically eats lunch at home while the children are at school, while the father joins for dinner later in the evening. The family enjoy fresh, wholesome meals and are looking for a chef with excellent knowledge of nutrition, seasonal produce and healthy cooking. The successful candidate will be responsible for menu planning, sourcing ingredients, provisioning and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen. Menus should be prepared in advance and submitted to the family's EA for approval. The successful candidate will work alongside an existing chef on a rotational schedule, taking full responsibility for the family's culinary requirements during their working period. This is an excellent opportunity for a chef with previous private household experience who enjoys creating healthy, high-quality cuisine and is comfortable working within a fully staffed environment. The family consists of two adults and three children, with one pet dog. One of the children is away at school during term time and returns to the family home during holidays and school breaks. Schedule The role operates on a rotational basis with a second chef. During your rotation, the typical working schedule will be 7:00am to 8:00pm, 7 days per week. Rotations are generally 3–4 consecutive weeks, followed by a handover period with the second chef before time off. Responsibilities The chef will be responsible for preparing daily breakfast, lunch and dinner for the family, creating healthy and seasonal menus, sourcing ingredients, managing kitchen stock, and maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and presentation. The successful candidate will also work closely with the second chef to ensure smooth handovers and continuity of service. Cuisine Requirements The family particularly enjoys healthy, nutritious cuisine with a focus on Italian, Mediterranean and Spanish cooking. Candidates should be confident preparing a wide variety of dishes within these styles whilst bringing creativity, variety and seasonal influences to the menu. Travel The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel with the family when required. Travel is primarily to Greece and Switzerland and will be undertaken as part of the chef rotation schedule alongside the second chef.
