Domestic Couple

 

Are you an experienced domestic couple with a passion for excellence, discretion, and animal care? A warm and welcoming family is looking for a trustworthy and versatile couple to manage and maintain their elegant countryside estate just outside Leuven, Belgium. You’ll be working in a serene, green environment with modern amenities and supportive staff. The four adult children of the family no longer live on the property but visit regularly, creating a lively and respectful atmosphere.

Your Key Responsibilities

 

As a couple, you will jointly handle a wide variety of household, property, and maintenance tasks, including:

- Household Management: Cleaning and upkeep of the main residence and guest houses, ironing, and laundry care (additional support from a part-time housekeeper/cook is provided), organising wardrobes, and caring for fine materials like marble, silver, and art objects

- Household Supplies: Managing inventories of groceries and cleaning products

- Security and Surveillance: Overseeing camera and alarm systems, home automation, contact with local authorities, and making regular property rounds

- Wellness Area Maintenance: Looking after the indoor pool, jacuzzi, hammam, and sauna

- Technical Oversight: Ensuring proper operation of systems like HVAC, water softeners, lighting, etc., reporting malfunctions, and carrying out minor repairs

- Gardening Support: Gardening duties, tool maintenance, care of the vegetable garden and greenhouse, and support in maintaining a small forested area (in collaboration with full-time gardeners)

- Animal Care: Daily care for two horses, two dogs, one cat, and chickens; including cleaning stables and the chicken coop

- Driving and Vehicle Maintenance: Airport transfers and other driving duties for family and guests; maintaining vehicles (interior/exterior cleaning, service schedule follow-up)

- Property Management: Maintenance of terraces, outdoor furniture, and technical areas; coordinating with external contractors and suppliers; welcoming service providers

- Errands and Reporting: Running errands, tracking expenses, coordinating with other staff (housekeeper/cook, cleaner, gardener), assisting with events, and reporting directly to the owners

 

Note: Cooking is not required for this position.

 

Your Profile

 

The family is seeking for a couple with the following qualities and qualifications:

- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a private household

- Discreet, responsible, adaptable, and proactive

- Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, service-minded attitude

- Fluent in Dutch is a strong asset; otherwise, fluency in English. French would be a plus

- Animal lovers, confident in handling various pets

- Valid Category B driving license

- Comfortable using Outlook, Excel, Word, WhatsApp, and Google tools

- Non-smokers

- Able to work independently with strong organisational skills

 

- Start date: 01/07/2025 (flexible depending on availability)

- Schedule: 5 days per week; flexibility required; includes animal care every other weekend and light weekend tasks such as tidying the kitchen and preparing the fireplace in winter

- Contract: Full-time, permanent (CDI)

- Accommodation: A modern, fully furnished private apartment (built in 2016) featuring one bedroom, a spacious living room, fully equipped kitchen, office, bathroom (with shower, bathtub, and toilet), separate guest toilet, and laundry room

- Location: Near Leuven, Belgium — tranquil, scenic, and well-connected

- Trial period: 2 months
