Head Chef Role – Small Family Estate  

A UHNW VIP client in Amman, Jordan has enlisted Greycoat Lumleys exclusively to seek a capable Private Chef to join their close knit and well gelled Private Staff. The family live in a large “family estate/Palace” with multiple properties. This is a full time residence but he family travel often and the chef would not be required to travel & therefore demands rise and fall.

We are seeking a Private Chef for a HNW family based in Amman, Jordan. The family, has a passion for diverse culinary experiences and cherishes home-cooked meals, savouring the flavours of classic British cuisine, indulging in delicate French dishes, and enjoying the vibrant tastes of Mediterranean - authentic Italian, all kinds of Asian, and Middle Eastern food. Their love for food knows no boundaries, they seek a chef who shares their enthusiasm for these varied culinary traditions.

Reporting directly to the family and working alongside the House Management team the Private Chef will:

  • Prepare daily meals for family members and guests, in accordance with the household’s preferences and dietary needs. 

  • Cater dinner parties and special events, bringing in sous chefs as needed. 

  • Working with the house staff, source all ingredients, ensuring the highest quality and freshness.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and all cooking equipment.

  • Ensure proper food storage and handling to maintain freshness and prevent wastage.

  • Coordinate with other household staff to ensure smooth and seamless service.

  • Manage special requests and cater to individual preferences of the household members.

  • Provide exceptional service, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all meal times.

  • Follow all health and safety regulations and maintain a safe kitchen environment.

Private Chef Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of various cuisine's, cooking techniques and dietary restrictions. Including, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Italian cuisine's. 

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage all aspects of the household’s culinary needs.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate with other household staff.

  • Professional and discreet demeanour.

  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the household’s needs.


  • Competitive salary based on experience (tax free).

  • 1 month annual leave per annum.

  • Fully furnished apartment (excellent standard) all costs covered by employer

The principal’s property has recently been refurbished with a beautiful state of the Art kitchen which services 6 full time Private Principals. The same Chef (who recently retired) worked for the family for almost 30 years. This chef was of course dear to the family and specialised in cooking family meals which were homely. The family now hope to find someone with a more rounded and worldly understanding of fine dining as well as the ability to simply rustle up a  simple favourite salad or pasta dish. The ability to gell with the rest of the household team and operate without too much of an ego is just as important as their skill in the kitchen.  

All members of the family have travelled widely and most studied abroad both in the US and UK so have a grown up eating all kind of foods. The family seek a determined hard worker to grow the Private Household team and provide daily cooking for all 6 members of the party.

The property manager is open to discussing either a 5 or 6-day working week with the right candidate which is rare for the ME.
